Opening a text message on the Samsung SCH-a990 is quite simple. When you receive a text, your phone will alert you immediately. You will see a small envelope icon on your screen, and you should also find an alert called ‘New Text Message’. To open the text message right then you will select ‘View Now’ and press ‘Ok’. This will open the message.
If you want check the message later, you will select ‘View Later’ and press ok. If you decide to view the message later, your phone will save it and you can access it by pressing ‘Menu’, and then scrolling to the left until you reach ‘messages’.

To save a number or contact to the Samsung SCH-a990 there are several different methods. Both of them are pretty easy, so we would recommend just getting used to one way or the other.
Menu Method
- Press the ‘Menu’ key on your keypad.
- Press ‘new contact’.
- Enter a name for the contact by using the keypad.
- Select the appropriate number type. (Mobile, Home, Work, etc.)
- Press ‘Ok’.
Quick Method
- Type the number while on the home screen.
- Press ‘Save’. (It should be the top-left key.)
- Select the number type.
- Enter the name using the keypad.
- Press ‘Ok’.
