iPhone Specifications
iPhone’s specifications are quite impressive, as they should be for a model that is selling for $500 with a 2-year contract.
iPhone Size and Weight
- Height: 4.5 Inches
- Width: 2.4 Inches
- Depth: .46 Inches
- Weight: 4.8 Ounces
The model is quite large and heavy in actuality. We don’t think it will be a problem for Apple since iPod is also unusually large.
iPhone Storage Capacity
The iPhone currently comes in two versions, the larger ships with 8GB of flash memory, and the smaller ships with 4GB. In both versions, the memory is dedicated for storage, although the actual formatted storage is slightly less than the stated amount.
iPhone Screen
The iPhone is equipped with a 3.5 inch, 480×320 pixel touchscreen. The screen comes with some interesting technologies including an alignment sensor which will rotate the screen’s picture according to which direction the user holds it in.
iPhone Operating System
iPhone operates on OS X.
Network Capability
The phone part of the model is equipped to operate on Quad-band (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz) GSM. iPhone also comes set up to connect to Wi-Fi (802.11b/g), EDGE, andBluetooth 2.0+EDR.
Camera
Both models of iPhone come with a 2.0 megapixel camera.
Audio
The model supports the following audio formats: AAC, Protected AAC, MP3, MP3 VBR, Audible (formats 1, 2, and 3), Apple Lossless, AIFF, and WAV
Video
The model supports the following video formats: .m4v, .mp4, .mov, H.264, MPEG-4
Battery Life
The iPhone uses a rechargeable lithium ion battery. Apple says that users can expect up to 8 hours talk time, 250 hours of standby, 6 hours of internet use, 7 hours of video playback, and 24 hours of audio playback. Usually the times manufacturers state are ridiculously overstated, so keep that in mind. ![]()

Have you heard about the $300 iPhone? I read an article yesterday talking about how apple recently filed plans to make an iPhone that would be the equivalent of the Nano for has the price.
This phone is getting some really great reviews from it’s users. According to an article I recently read:
- 90% of 200 owners stated they were “extremely” or “very” satisfied with their phone.
- 85% stated they are “extremely” or “very” likely to recommend the device to others.
That’s wicked Michael. I wonder how many features it will lack? Do you know when it’s supposed to come out????
I doubt I would buy it…although it will definitely make a nice alternative.
Haha yeah its hard to say what features it would have. As far as I know Apple just put in the plans for it so they havn’t started to make them or anything. I think it could be very popular though if it has most of the same features just smaller hard drive space. It will be interesting to see what comes of it.
