Research In Motion Announces Blackberry Pearl For CDMA
October 1, 2007
RIM has finally made the CDMA version of the Blackberry Pearl 8130 official. Both Verizon and Sprint have leaked that they will eventually have the Pearl, and now there is no doubt that they’re both right. Now that the CDMA Pearl is official, both Verizon and Sprint will likely have the model within the next month.
The CDMA Pearl will come with built-in GPS and some other features including A2DP/AVRCP Bluetooth, a 3.5 mm audio jack, and a 2 mega-pixel camera.
RIM has stated that the new Pearl will have an overhauled interface and an expanded feature set over the GSM.
Verizon is notorious for shutting off functions that conflict with their methods for making money. Since a built-in GPS would cost Verizon some subscriptions to their VZnavigator service, you can expect it to be disabled.
