Emergency Broadcast Messaging In NYC, Other Cities Should Follow

October 2, 2007

In the first quarter of 2008, New York City will implement a system that will deliver emergency information via text messages to mobile handsets. It is believed that the messages will be deliverable even if the voice network has crashed.

This technology is a huge advancement in crisis and incident management, and it is very likely that other cities will follow suit. Cellcast will provide the solution to the city - all you people out there that would like to see a similar service in your cities can give their number to your local city counsel-person. :)
