How To Take Care Of Your Krzr Battery

Motorola KrazrIf you have been searching for tips on taking care of your Krzr battery, you’ve come to the right place! If you searched for something else about the Krzr, you can visit the Krzr resource sheet, where you will find lessons and information about the Krzr.

Here are some tips for maximizing your battery life in your Krzr:

  1. Use Motorola original chargers. If you buy a car or wall charger that was made by a different company, the slight voltage difference could damage your battery. This will lead to your battery having less capacity in the future.
  2. Let your phone fully charge every time you plug it in. Partial charges can make your battery lose capacity. This is highly important the first few times you charge your Krzr’s battery.
  3. Charge your battery at room temperature. Don’t leave your phone to charge in your car when you’re not in it. The heat that builds up in your car can be very damaging to your Krzr battery.
  4. Even if you’re not charging your phone, don’t leave it in your vehicle while you’re not in there. Motorola recommends that you don’t expose your battery to temperatures above 113 degrees ferenheit or under 14 degrees farenheit.

This phone’s battery is AWFUL! It was fine when I first got the phone, though I admit I don’t use it that much. I took care of my battery.. I made sure I wasn’t doing anything that could severely screw it up. Within a couple of months, the battery would discharge pretty fast.. I’d have maybe 30 min (which sucks when you’re on hold and not near a charger). At less than a year old, I can talk for about 8 minutes before the battery dies.

But wait, there’s more. If I leave it on and do nothing.. sometimes it dies within 15 minutes, sometimes it lasts days. Very very unreliable. Also, if it does die, or if I simply turn it off, the battery will revive itself after ~15min. When I start using it, obviously it dies faster again, but the longer it is off, the longer the next run will last (or so it seems).

I know a few people with this phone that have the same issues. Yes, it’s a beautiful phone, but save yourself the frustration, get something else.

The key to the battery is to ALWAYS let your phone die before recharging. If you’ll notice, the battery indicator goes to one “bar” pretty quickly, but then it stays there for about two days before the phone tells you it’s time to charge the battery. I don’t know if they do that on purpose, but considering the only way they make additional money is from selling batteries, I can hazzard a guess. So, never pay any attention to what the phone tells you about the battery; always let your battery die and your phone shut itself off accordingly before recharging and you’ll keep the battery life at about 80% normal until it just simply can’t hold a charge anymore, which happens to all batteries eventually.

Got something to say?
