Samsung Juke Features And Specifications

Samsung Juke For Verizon

The Verizon Juke phone by Samsung is a music phone with a very unique design. The model is amazingly slim, and sports a funky hinge that allows the user to swing the model open strangely for a one of a kind form factor. The model is available in red, navy, and teal.

Verizon Juke Features

  • 2 GB internet memory. Since the model uses some of that memory, you can expect less that you will actually be able to save stuff too. Even so, not bad.
  • Music player. This player will support mP3, WMA, WMA Pro, AAC & AAC+. You’re bases seems to be covered here. What, no ogg vorbis? lol
  • Playlist manager. You are able to add, delete, and modify playlists.
  • Syncable. Music can be moved from pc to phone and this model actually comes with a USB cable unlike many of the Motorolas sold by Verizon Wireless.
  • Stereo Bluetooth. The Juke supports the following Bluetooth profiles: Headset, Hands–free, Bluetooth Stereo Support for Music, Serial Port & Object Push for vCard only. Don’t expect it to do all of the OBEX profiles because it doesn’t support those unfortunately.
  • Camera - VGA camera. In other words don’t plan on taking any decent pictures.
  • Messaging - Supports text and picture messaging.
  • Advanced Voice Commands
  • Speed Dialing

Specifications

  • Dual Band – 1X/RTT Digital Only. That means that it doesn’t have Ev-Do for those of you that care about downloading stuff.
  • Dimensions: 3.82″ (H) x 1.18″ (W) x 0.83″ (D)
  • Screen size: 1.45 inches; 10 lines of text
  • Display: 128 x 220 Pixel, 262K TFT Color
  • Weight: 2.82 ounces with standard battery (as if anyone would want to know how much it weighs without the battery)
  • Hearing Aid Compatibility = M3
  • SAR: Head –1.04, Body –0.91
  • Usage Time: Up to 210 Minutes with standard battery OR
  • Standby Time: Up to 250 hours with standard battery (these estimates were issued by Verizon, but the truth is that it won’t last that long

Key Features The Juke Is Missing

  • Ev-Do
  • Bluetooth OBEX
  • Mobile Web (What were they thinking?)

This model is really cool, but isn’t that functional. Buy this model if you like music and don’t care that much about other features like a good camera, and web functionality.

Is there a way to get songs off the Juke back into my Computer?

  23. Ellen on June 4th, 2009 7:54 am

Love my Juke; love it! I’ve had it for about 15 months now, and I get so many compliments/comments on it. I have a holster for it with my car keys, so the days of me losing my phone (or my keys) are over! It’s rhapsody.com compatible, so I download my songs and workout with my phone… Very sweet!

MY ONLY BEEFS: as far as I know, you cannot get your photos off of the camera in a normal way. I’ve hooked it up to my computer, and I cannot find any photo files available to move to my computer.

The headphone jack is not the standard size. So if you lose your headphones or want to hook this up in your car, you’ll have to buy an adaptor.

  24. Kait on June 5th, 2009 2:06 pm

You cant zoom. I have tried, also how do you get music from i-tunes it doesn’t work at ALL for me.. :(

  25. tracy on June 30th, 2009 8:30 am

ugh i hate the juke! it is possibly the worst phone ever! it gets scratched if you drop it two feet onto carpet, the camera is really bad with no way to zoom, NO INTERNET!, maintenance required 24/7 (I’ve had to ship my phone in 7 times since i go it last august.) and like at first when you get it your like, “yee haw! it swivels! yippy doo this is the coolest thing ever!” but once ya start using it, its really bad… i just got my last juke in like march or april and i had only dropped it once, and the phone just split in half. like, the screen half, and the keyboard half are in two peices. its the worst phone ever! i hate it!

  26. frank on July 1st, 2009 3:54 pm

You could zoom but you have to change resolution to medium

  27. mari on November 7th, 2009 10:15 pm

how do u upload pics to ur pc from ur juke?

  28. mari on November 7th, 2009 10:46 pm

to upload ur photo, you have to send ur photo to ur email address.
to do that, u have to do it just like picture message, press the left top space thing that says 123, and change it to abc.

  29. Kate on December 9th, 2009 12:22 pm

Well i hate this phone so i got a new one, and figures somethin else wrong! Can’t get your damn pictures off it using the USB cord. Wow so they want you to have ta get your phone turned back on and never will I use Verizon again!!! Juke sucks.

  31. kayaa on March 13th, 2010 8:41 pm

Could someone tell me how to import pictures from your juke phone

  32. what a jip on November 12th, 2010 1:24 am

PHOTOS: the only possible way to extract your photos from the Juke is through texting it to your email. Type in your email address where you would normally type in a phone number and it’ll send it to your email’s “inbox” (or “spam” folder).

If you no longer have service on the Juke, you have to go into Verizon and setup a pay-as-you-go type plan, which costs three or four bucks. Then, you have to pay for each text (to send each photo), which costs twenty-five cents per text (photo). So if you have several photos you want sent through text to your email, then the cost will definitely add up. But what can you do? Not a thing.

There is NO OTHER WAY. That pretty much sums up Verizon. They could just as easily activate your phone in the store to transfer your photos, then deactivate it when you leave. Hell, I’d even leave the phone at the store.

is there any chance i can activate my juke via verizon by using the pay-as-you-go type?

  36. HitWizard on November 26th, 2011 12:37 pm

There is a pretty simple way to do this, and I luckily was able to locate it for a Sony Walkman. Basically, the Samsung memory is an MTP format, and will not allow you to transfer files, but there are steps you can take to install an update to make it a USB Mass Storage Device. It saved my ASS!!!

After almost five years years my Juke is still working perfectly.
The headphones, however, finally wore out a couple months ago. None of the headphones carried in the Verizon store now work properly with the Juke, but I was able to find some brand-new Juke-specific headphones on Ebay for about $5. Color matched the phone and everything.

If I’m not doing much with it the battery will last for over a week, but if I’m listening to music or in an area where it can’t find a signal it drains quite a bit quicker. It’ll go for about 4 or 5 hours of continuous music, great for raod-trips.
It’ll last two or three hours maximum of continuous signal search, so you might want to turn it off when you’re out in the middle of nowhere.
I’ve had several upgrades that I could have used over the years, but instead gave them to my brother who is pretty rough on his phones.

Transferring music to the phone is as simple as plugging it to the computer and dragging the files to it from the “My Music” folder, same as you would for a flash drive. Or you can sync things to it from Windows Media Player.
To remove them, the flash drive comparison comes up again. Plug it in to the computer, open it up in a folder to view the files, and just delete what you no-longer want.
It also works well with Rhapsody.

The only issue I’ve had with it is that as it ages it will sometimes pick up interference from other electronic devices and freeze up. I’ve noticed this happening mostly around video game consoles with wireless controllers, specifically the Wii or 360.
But this issue is rare and can be fixed by simply pulling out the battery. When you put the battery back in and turn it on it’ll be just fine.

A fantastic phone for those that don’t need it to do much more than play music and send calls/texts, but it’s showing its age and probably won’t be a hit with smartphone fans, internet addicts, and people who always need “the hot new thing”. I hope mine never dies.

Got something to say?
