With the SCH models, including the a437, there are some ways I figured out to 1. get free wallpapers, ringtones and 2. how to install many apps including a full browser.
first, you should get a data pack. att has a 1mb for 4.99 which is plenty for some wallpapers, ringtons and apps. go to wapload.org and on that page for free you can upload any ringtone. wallpapers work but for some reason get shrunk by this method. make sure ringtone is around 92kb or smaller for best results.
For applications (including opera mini) go to this site and search 128×160 (add nothing else at all to 128×160 or add name of game you want, for instance mario or zelda):
downloadwap.com
umnet.com
opera– http://phoneky.com/java-software/?p=download-item&id=a1a192 (this is direct link in which you will plug into your phone browser which i’m about to explain)
file cannot be over 270kb or it will not work with this method below
now, after you have clicked on the file, right-click where it says, download and play game. choose “copy link location”
now, create an email (yahoo is tested) and delete any pre-filled info that may be ikn the body such as signatures, html etc. for the to field, type your ten digit phone number and for att type 0000000000@mms.att.net
now, click on the body of the empty email and right-click and paste or just hit cntrl + v. hit the send button.
you will get a text soon. it may take a few minutes for it to completely load. when it does, open it, click left key and choose options, scroll down to copy url and it will take you directly to the page you need to be at for the jar file to download.
for wallpapers and ringtones, send your phone number a text and attach the wallpaper or ringtone. it takes a few minutes usually for the text to completely load on your phone. when it does, just open the message and click options, save media and choose whichever type of media you have sent. remember, send yourself images of the correct resolution or you will get an error. 128×160 is the likely resolution you need. to check, go to your wallpaper collection on phone and click properties on one of them. it should show you the resolution of the wallpaper. this is your screen resolution. another common res is 240×320.
