How To Use The iPhone Stereo Headset

The headset of the iPhone is insanely cool - there are quite a few things you can do with it that most people don’t know about. At first glance, it’s a regular set of headphones, but upon closer examination you’ll see that the model also has a mic, and a very functional mic button. This headset is included with the iPhone and is not the optional Bluetooth headset.
The iPhone headset has all of the basic functions of both headphones and headsets. You can plug the headset in to listen to music, or to answer a call. The headset microphone is quite small, but users will be able to hear you without any problem as long as you’re wearing the headset.
The mic button is what sets the iPhone headset apart from anything else that’s out there right now. Not only can you answer calls using the mic button, you can control the iPhone in several different ways by pushing the button.
Using The iPhone Mic Button
There are several different functions that can be performed by pressing the iPhone mic button. Each function is achieved with a different press of the button:
- Pressing the button once while using iTunes will pause the song or video that you’re listening to. Pressing the button again will the unpause the song or video.
- Pressing the button once while receiving a call will answer the call. Pressing the button again will end the call (hang up).
- Quickly pressing the button twice will skip to the next song in your playlist.
- Holding the button down for about two seconds while receiving a call will decline the call. You will hear two distinct, low beeps that are meant to be a confirmation that the call was indeed declined.
- If you receive a call while already on a call, you can press the button once to switch over to the other line. Pressing the button again will switch back to the original call.
- If you receive a call while already on a call, you can end the first call and switch to the second by holding down the button for about two seconds and then letting go. You will hear the same, low beeps that confirm the ending of the first call.
These features really set the iPhone headset apart from the headsets for most phones. If you get to know the commands properly, you won’t even have to take your iPhone out of your bag.
