Motorola Q GSM - Cingular and T-Mobile Users Smile

July 5, 2007

Moto Q GSMUsers of GSM cell service everywhere have been awaiting the arrival of the Q GSM for quite some time. Verizon Wireless is the only service provider that has been able to sell the model until this point. Since Verizon uses CDMA service, users of T-Mobile and Cingular couldn’t buy unlocked versions of the model.

Those days are now coming to and end with the official announcement of the Q GSM. You can see to the left that the GSM version looks just like the original Q, except is as a darker finish.

The model is highly anticipated, so it should sell well. The biggest selling point of the model is its crazy thin design. The GSM version of the MOTO Q will be an astounding 11.5″ thin.

The GSM Q has a 2.4″ screen that uses TFT technology. A full qwerty keyboard will make text and email easier and faster for its users.

The new Q will have stereo Bluetooth, making it possible for users to stream audio to their p.c. and car speakers if they like. Of course all the standard applications of Bluetooth will also be supported, including: headsets, speakers, and p.c. connection.

The model will have a 1.3 mega-pixel camera, capable of taking still shots or video clips. The phone won’t ship with a ton of extra memory, but will come equipped with a card-slot that will support expansion up to 1 GB.

At this time, it appears that the model won’t come equipped with WLAN technology, which means that users won’t be able to connect to their home and office networks. There is, however, an expansion WiFi card that can give users the capabiliy. The card will be sold seperately.

Moto Q GSM Specs

  • Full QWERTY Keyboard
  • Quad-Band GSM (this will give users access to phone networks all over the world)
  • High-speed data transfer using GPRS class 10 and EDGE class 10 (does not have the newest 3G technology however. 3G would make the phone about three times as fast on the internet)
  • 128MB Flash memory (this is the memory type that is used to store pictures, video clips, mP3s, wallpapers, screensavers, and games) 64MB RAM
  • 2.4”, 64K Color TFT Screen
  • 1.3 Mega-pixel Camera (capable of capturing clips and still shots)
  • MP3, WMA, AAC, WAV (these are the audio formats supported by the music player)
  • 2.5 mm Headset Jack ( for users that really want to use wired headphone instead of Bluetooth ones)
  • Video Capture
  • Supports MPEG4, H.263, WMV Video Formats
  • USB 1.1 Full Speed, Version 1.2 Class 2 Bluetooth
  • Windows Mobile 6.0 Standard Edition
  • Email via IMAP4, POP 3, SMTP, RIM
  • SMS, MMS, Microsoft IM Messenger
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer

Overall, the Motorola Q GSM looks like a great model.

Motorola Sliver L6

June 30, 2007

The L6 is on our watch out list, which means that there is a lot of knock off L6s floating around out there. Most are imported from China, and even though they will function on Cingular or T-Mobile service, they are not setup properly. You will never be able to use internet, and may not be able to use text messaging. So take some advice from the MotoGuru: buy from a site that you can trust. The MotoGuru recommends buying from Amazon, because they will take care of you, and get you the properly programmed handset.

If you buy the MotoSlvr L6 from them, you will get a better price than you can get in the stores.

The Moto Sliver L6 is a nice starter handset that offers a sleek design and nice functionality. The model offers Bluetooth and a really nice sound quality. The L6 also sports a built-in digital camera and hands free speaker phone.

The L6 follows the sleek design of the Razr series, and looks the part. The L6 has rounder cuts than the Razr, but looks great and has already become immensely popular. The L6 was originally only sold at Radioshack,. but is now offered in many locations both in stores and on the internet. The MotoGuru recommends Amazon.com, which has a mega low price. You can also send the phone back if you need to return.

The MotoGuru has recommended the phone for use by those that just want a phone that has good reception. There are more powerful phones out there for those who like a ton of functionality.
